Trimming on wet clay chuck

I use a wet clay chuck to trim all thrown pots that require a cut foot on the bottom. When I was a beginner in 1965 at the University of Iowa a Japanese potter (Sakuma) demonstrated throwing and trimming. The fellow used a wet clay chuck for trimming every piece that needed inverting. I did not catch on to how important this was until years later.
